YouTube Playlist Length Calculator

Paste a YouTube playlist link to see its total length, average video length, and how long it takes to watch at 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2x.

How to find the length of a YouTube playlist

  1. 1

    Paste the playlist link

Any public playlist link, or a channel link to total its latest uploads.

  2. 2

    See the total

Total and average video length, and how long it takes at 1.25x, 1.5x, and 2x.

  3. 3

    Pick a range

Set From and To to total only the videos you have left, like lessons 12 to 40 of a course.

Plan a course or a binge

Before starting a 60-video course or a lecture series, it helps to know whether it's 8 hours or 40. The calculator gives you the total, the average video length, and the time at the speeds people actually watch at, so you can plan how many videos a day gets you through by a deadline.

Total what's left

Already partway through? Enter the video you're on in From and the last one in To. The total is the time you have left, at normal speed and faster.

Read a playlist instead of watching it

For lectures and tutorials, reading can be faster than any playback speed. Open any video in the playlist transcript tool to read its full transcript, or turn a lesson into notes with the free video to notes tool.

Need transcripts at scale? Use the API

The same transcripts are available through the YouTube Transcript API: timestamped JSON, text, SRT, VTT, CSV, or Markdown, 150+ languages, and AI transcription for videos without captions. Or connect the YouTube MCP server to Claude, Cursor, or Codex and just paste links in chat.

Common questions

How do I find the total length of a YouTube playlist?

YouTube shows how many videos a playlist has but not how long it is. Paste the playlist link here and the calculator adds up every video's duration.

How long will it take at 1.5x or 2x speed?

The calculator divides the total by each speed. A 10-hour course takes about 6 hours 40 minutes at 1.5x and 5 hours at 2x.

Can I calculate the length of part of a playlist?

Yes. Set the From and To video numbers to total any range, for example the lessons you haven't watched yet.

Is there a limit on playlist size?

The free calculator reads the first 100 videos of a playlist and says so when there are more. The TranscriptYT API lists whole playlists and channels.

Why are some videos not counted?

Live streams that are still running and upcoming premieres have no length yet, so they're left out and the count says how many.

Is this free?

Yes, with no account needed for normal use.
